I was a God once by SpindaSpots I was a God once by SpindaSpots
It isn't really explained what Fierce Deity is, or why he was turned into a mask. I have tons and tons of ideas about what he could be or how or why he was turned into/put into a mask, and Hylia sealing him felt the most plausible of all of them. We know that he's tremendously powerful, possibly so powerful that only Hylia herself could seal him away. Perhaps, though, there was some relationship between them before he had to be sealed away - as Hylia and Demise were the original Zelda and Ganon, perhaps Deity was the original Link. Purely speculation on my part though! :P

To me something that always scared me was this. Where did the mask come from when it appeared on the moon? And the way that majora spoke to link... It always sounded like the mask was Link's mask. His true face. What link really is and why he out of everyone is soul bound to the events that have transpired. I think once in ancient times link was a god of war and violence and was turned into a mortal and bound to servitude as a punishment. It would explain links connection to all the other gods turned mortal running around.

This is my stupid theory...
Fierce Deity was created to become whole with the chosen hero to try and kill Demise, but like :iconyingyangroxs: said: Demise was to powerful that he killed Fierce Deity and Hylia saved him by turning him into a mask.

Maybe Demise was too powerful for the Deity. In the final battle between the two, Demise managed to kill Deity and Hylia managed to save Deity by turning him into a mask. With that Hylia thought that if the chosen hero in the future ever needed power the hero could put on the mask and the Deity would live to defeat the incarnation of Demise.

Hey! Nice theory! I love it! You see, lately I've been thinking Link seems to be the only one who it's "not conscious" of being chosen by the godesses, but Zelda is, I think Ganon too. So this theory is simply great :D

Beatiful depict :-)

Sweet and sad at the same time.

It's been my theory for a LONG time now, since just after Majora's Mask, that his essense was in the mask because of the Majora issue...I'd dubbed him the God of Fate- and a counterpart to the then mentioned Goddess of Time, who I always thought would have purple as her main colour...Skyward Sword bringing out Hylia backed up a lot of what I used to think... so this art...it does sort of hit home a little, too. Actually...quite a lot. In ways I can't even begin to explain.
